Minnesota based Wipaire Inc. celebrated the delivery of its 100th set of floats to be delivered to the field in May of 2019.

Wipaire, located at Fleming Field in South St. Paul, delivered its 100th set of Fire Boss floats to a customer in Chico, California, the location of devastating fires in the summer of 2018.

“We are extremely proud of the property and lives saved with the Fire Boss,” said Bob Wiplinger, CEO of Wipaire, which owns Fire Boss. “Over 15 years ago, we had an idea of making a smarter, faster and dependable (single-engine air tanker). To deliver the 100th set surpasses any expectations we had at the beginning.”

The Fire Boss aircraft, owned by Wipaire is based on the Air Tractor 802 model that can feature a thermal imaging capability to assist in firefighting targeting along with water scooping floats with a capability of taking on six to eight hundred gallons of water or retardant depending on the mission and fuel load.
