Alaska Fire Service Uses Drone on Swan Lake Fire

The Alaska Fire Service recently released a video showcasing their latest tool used in aerial firefighting UAS technology. The department’s UAS, operated by drone operators Jo Don Morton and Milton Truong. The UAS was most recently used for its EO/IR surveillance capabilities on the Swan Lake fire in a reconnaissance mission using infrared to monitor the fire’s spread. The drone is also fitted with a plastic sphere dispenser for controlled burn requirements when needed.
