Reports surfaced Tuesday from Chile of the overnight firebombing of the Erickson Air Crane "Camille." AerialFire reached out to Erickson Air Crane for official comment on the matter.
"We have confirmed a group of unidentified individuals entered an Erickson operating base in Chile last night. After gaining entry to the secure area, they caused damage to the Erickson owned S-64 Air Crane® helicopter located there. No Erickson employees were hurt. Erickson personnel are cooperating with local police." stated an Erickson spokesperson.
Unconfirmed reports have stated the damage to the Air Crane is substantial with heat melting the bubble window and extensive internal fire and smoke damage to the helicopter before the fire was able to be extinguished.
