A church, community center and two homes were threatened in a 3.5-acre woods fire Saturday afternoon in the Boomer community.
Also Saturday afternoon, a 15-acre woods fire threatened homes in Watauga County near the Wilkes and Caldwell county lines and a three-acre woods fire in Alleghany County destroyed a four-wheeler and other items.
A ban on outside burning announced for Wilkes and the other western North Carolina counties on April 3 remains in place.
