Peter Wheatley Appointed as Vice President/General Manager of StandardAero Helicopters Business Unit

COTTSDALE, Ariz. – June 9, 2021 – StandardAero has announced the appointment of Peter Wheatley as Vice President/General Manager of the company’s Helicopters business unit, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  In his new role, Peter will be responsible for managing StandardAero’s broad range of support offerings for the helicopter segment, which includes OEM-authorized engine maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO), airframe support, dynamic component repair (DCR), crash resistant fuel systems and avionics installations.  StandardAero’s Helicopters business unit is the world’s largest independent MRO provider that supports helicopter operators from locations in North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.

Peter has 17 years of experience with StandardAero and moves to this new role from his former position as Director of Engineering for the Helicopters business unit, within StandardAero’s Components, Helicopters, and Accessories (CH&A) division.  Peter was previously Director of Sales Operations for the company’s Airlines & Fleets division, prior to which he served in various production, engineering, quality and customer program roles within StandardAero.  Following the company’s acquisition of Vector Aerospace in 2017, Peter led the successful transition of StandardAero’s Rolls-Royce M250/RR300 engine lines to help establish the company’s Helicopter Engine MRO Center of Excellence.

Peter has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and an MBA from the University of Manitoba.  He also holds a Professional Engineer designation through Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).  In 2019, Peter was honored as one of Canada’s “Top 20 under 40 in aviation” by Wings magazine.

“Peter represents the next generation of leaders for StandardAero,” said Rick Stine, President of the company’s Helicopters, Components & Accessories.  “His leadership experience, energy, technical savvy and in-depth knowledge of the helicopter industry will serve our customers well.  I’m confident he will successfully run our operations and continue his bright career at StandardAero.”
