Firefighters Establish 25% Containment on 5,400-Acre ‘Crooked Creek’ Fire Near Wyoming–Montana Border

CASPER, Wyo. — Fire crews have established about 25% containment on the 5,400-acre “Crooked Creek” fire burning in the Pryor Mountains near the Wyoming–Montana border about 25 miles east of Bridger, Montana.

That is according to a Wednesday evening update on the fire posted to InciWeb. On Wednesday, fire managers reported that crews on the west side of the fire finished constructing a section of a handline connecting into Sage Creek Road.

“Along the road the heavy equipment task force started working to open a shaded fuel break through areas of timber,” the update adds. “A combination of direct and indirect hand line has been constructed around the northeast corner and moving in both directions along the east side.”
