PJ Helicopters, Inc. announced in August that the company had achieved the sought-after designation as a Stage 1 IS-BAO Certification operator, effective August 6th, 2021.
IS-BAO (International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations), is recognized in the business aviation industry as the highest standard for safety. IS-BAO, developed by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) and its member associations, is a recommended code of best practices designed to help flight departments worldwide achieve high levels of safety and professionalism.
IS-BAO has become the global leader in safety standards for the business aviation operator community. It is a set of performance-based standards that uses a safety management system as its cornerstone, addressing operations, maintenance, training, and other related issues.
The certification effort was led by PJH Director of Safety Greg Stine, with efforts beginning in early 2020 and culminating with this First Stage certification, which will segue towards targeted Stage 2 and Stage 3 approvals in the future. “At PJH, we are committed to constantly analyzing and refining our safety management system to enhance our operations to be one of the best that is configured for the dynamics of the utility helicopter industry. Our customers, vendors, and staff rely on us to do exactly that” said Stine.
At present, PJH operates a fleet of 40 aircraft with a staff of 125 employees from throughout the country conducting aerial firefighting, powerline, and external load operations.
