Crews from Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office and USFS are on the scene of the Newton Mesa Fire located in the Burns Canyon Area approximately half way between County Road 500 and Tara Mandala near USFS Road 649.
The 4.5-acre fire is burning on private land.
Crews have cut a line around approximately 3/4 of the fire at this time. A SEAT (single engine air tanker) has dropped six loads of retardant on the fire.
