UPDATE 8:15 A.M. TUESDAY

The increase in acreage since yesterday is due to more accurate mapping, the Forest Service said in a social media update.

The Texas A&M Forest Service opened a single engine air tanker base in Abilene to help in the response to a 15,000-acre wildfire in Throckmorton County.

Forest service personal from Fort Stockton, Burkburnett, McGregor, Merkel and San Angelo responded to the wildfire. Several local volunteer fire departments also assisted, including Albany, Haskell, Throckmorton and Woodson, Morris said.
