Houses Doused, Forestry Workers Evacuated in Two Separate Waikato Vegetation Fires

Three properties were in danger from a vegetation fire in Huntly, and forestry workers near Raglan were evacuated to avoid another blaze.

Four helicopters were called in to help fight the two large Waikato fires.

Firefighters were dousing three properties near a large vegetation blaze on Te Ohaki Rd in Huntly, on Thursday afternoon, a Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said.

Crews were called to the blaze at 2.36pm, she said. It was across two hectares, and crews were fighting multiple groups of fire.
