Tuolumne County Supervisors Honor Retiring Cal Fire Division Chief

Adam Frese, a division chief and forester for the Cal Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, was recognized Tuesday by Tuolumne County government leaders for 17 years with the TCU and 23 years with Cal Fire.

Frese is retiring and expects his last day on the job will be next Thursday, March 24.

“It’s been an honor working for TCU,” Frese said Tuesday. “I do think it’s the best unit anywhere, and I’m proud to have been a part of it. And thank you to my wife, Alicia, she’s been with me every step of the way.”

Frese said he’s definitely planning to stay local in the Mother Lode.

After graduating from the University of Montana in May 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in forestry, Frese started with Cal Fire’s Butte Unit as a forester in November 1999 and worked in the Mendocino Unit as a crew captain for two fire seasons before joining the TCU in August 2005.

For years, Frese has been one of the Mother Lode’s leading authorities on vegetation management, hazard fuels reduction and risk mitigation.
