Anchorage, Alaska – Rotak Helicopter Services, fresh off receiving two new CH-47s from Columbia Helicopters, have been asked to bring one of the aircraft back to Alaska to fight the Clear Fire and others as Alaska deals with one of its worst fire seasons in recent years as 48 fires currently burn across the state.
The journey for one of the company’s new CH-47s began Friday, leaving Olympia, Washington before weather stopped the aircraft in Canada. The aircraft has a planned stop in Ketchikan before finally landing at its base in Anchorage before being dispatched by Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources.
Rotak’s Director of Business Development, Chris Maynard said that they are looking forward to working in their home state for the first time with their new acquisition.
