On Tuesday, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency worked with the Tennessee National Guard to provide two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters to help with the wildfire response in Warren County. One of the first Blackhawk helicopters on the scene was equipped with a Bambi Bucket.
Bambi Buckets are a specialized bucket system suspended from a helicopter to deliver water for aerial firefighting. The aircraft made multiple trips into the affected area dropping hundreds of gallons of water from the air onto the blaze. The helicopter picked up water from nearby water sources and transported it directly to the needed sites.
