10 Tanker Deploys to Florida for First Time

10 Tanker Air Carrier’s Tanker 911 has deployed to the newly upgraded fire base in Lake City, just south of the Florida/Georgia border for the first time.

The 17 year old Lake City USFS base has recently undergone several upgrades to accommodate the very large air tanker to more effectively fight fires in Florida.

It is unknown how long tanker 911 will be in Lake City, however, the aircraft has already assisted with two drops on a fire near Daytona Beach, Florida assisted by Tanker 15 from Neptune Aviation. The two air tankers are also currently supported by two lead planes out of Lake City.

10 Tanker Air Carrier CEO John Gould also recently took the voluntary role of President of the industry’s new United Aerial Firefighting Association (UAFA) which is seeking to represent the commercial interests and standards of the aerial firefighting industry.
