VIDEO: LAFD Showcases New Bell 505 Helicopter in Van Nuys

The Los Angeles County Fire Department showcased its newest asset at its aviation headquarters facility at Van Nuys Airport. The agency recently received the new short light single Bell 505 aircraft, dubbed “Fire 7” that will take the place of the departments aging Bell 206, which was used as a primary training aircraft and for aerial firefighting in addition to LAFD’s fleet of external tank-equipped AW139’s.

The Bell 505 will also be fitted with an external tank capable of holding 200 gallons of water or retardant.
