CASPER, Wyo. —The Casper–Natrona County International Airport began construction on a new single engine air tanker, or SEAT, refueling base.
At these refueling bases, water and fire retardant are mixed and then loaded into SEAT aircraft to aid wildland fire suppression.
The airport has been leasing land to the BLM for a SEAT refueling base since 2009. The airport recently began constructing a larger SEAT and Large Air Tanker base using BLM and Forest Service funds. Once the facility is complete, it will be turned over to the BLM to operate.
