New South Wales Fire Service Set to Welcome CH-47 to Fleet

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service in Australia is set to receive a CH-47 Chinook to add to the state’s growing fleet of state-owned aircraft this week as preparations continue for the arrival of the aircraft on July 29.

New South Wales Minister for Emergency Services Jihad Dib, along with representatives from the RFS and Department of Defence, will welcome the CH74 Chinook helicopter at RAAF Base Richmond this Saturday after the aircraft arrives from Travis Air Force base in the United States.

A media conference to welcome the first RFS-owned Chinook as it arrives will occur on the Base upon its arrival. The RFS Chinook will be the largest-capacity firefighting helicopter permanently based in Australia and have night-time aerial firefighting capability.
