ASU Wins “Coolest Thing Made in Idaho” Award,
Recognized for Innovating Aviation with E3 Lightweight Aviation NVG

The Idaho Manufacturing Alliance (IMA), in partnership with Idaho Power, recently hosted the third annual "Coolest Thing Made in Idaho" contest, celebrating the exceptional creativity and ingenuity of the state's manufacturers. After a fierce competition featuring numerous outstanding nominations, the public had the final say in determining the winner. We are delighted to announce that the 2023 "Coolest Thing Made in Idaho" title goes to Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) for their groundbreaking E3 Lightweight Aviation Night Vision Goggles (NVG).

ASU President Joseph Estrera expressed his gratitude, saying, "Receiving acknowledgment from the Idaho Manufacturing Alliance is a tremendous honor. The development of this product is a testament to the unwavering ingenuity, tireless work ethic, and resolute determination of every member at ASU. Our roots in Boise have fueled our continued growth, attracting great talent to our team. The global reach of the E3 Lightweight Aviation Goggles is a source of immense pride for us, as they are poised to make a significant impact across the world."

The E3 Lightweight Aviation NVG from ASU is a game-changer, being 30% lighter than legacy goggles. It features state-of-the-art P-45 white phosphor image intensifying tubes and is compatible with legacy ANVIS mounts and battery packs.

Joseph Estrera emphasized the innovation, saying, "What makes our new product truly innovative is that it reduces the overall weight of the goggles and helmet, significantly decreasing neck strain on pilots and crew members. The aviation community has been requesting such a solution for years, and we are thrilled to bring it to them. We are gearing up to introduce these goggles to the industry in 2024."

This annual contest, celebrating National Manufacturing Day and Idaho Manufacturing Month, encourages nominations from all corners of the state. Any product manufactured in Idaho can be nominated by individuals or entities who have a passion for the product. The award will be formally presented to ASU on November 30th during the Idaho Manufacturing Trade Show & Conference.

ASU has also announced its plans to unveil the revolutionary E3 Lightweight Aviation NVG at HELI EXPO in 2024.
