UAFA Hosts Leadership Training at Synergy Tahoe

On May 23, UAFA hosted our first leadership training focused at member company employees. Synergy Tahoe has put on leadership training for everyone form the Girl Scouts to Special Forces to fourth graders to Olympians.

They focus on the ABC’s. Attitudes, Behaviors, and Cognitions. There was a lot of discussion on tools (what works and when to change), communication (listen to hear not wait to talk), and culture (what is rewarded, corrected or ignored). Everyone developed a list of tools that they used and can use in the future (see attached picture). Leadership also has a strong tie to mental health and how you lead your employees, self, and family.

“When I was with BLM, I attended over 20 sessions and learned something new each time either about myself or others I worked with. In Nevada BLM, 90% of all fire employees have participated in this and both Nevada BLM Hotshot crews use this on annual basis.” said UAFA Executive Director Paul Petersen.

UAFA will be hosting another session in October. and if there is interest, they can host one this summer for members (Admin, billing, non operational staff). This can be tailored to any group or situation and can be used for closeout with pilots, mechanics, season after action reviews between departments, or leadership teams.

Please reach out to membership@uafa.org if you have any questions or interest.
