Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs on Sunday said the Border Police had received from Germany the third Airbus H145 helicopter designated for firefighting and mountain rescue operations.
The Ministry noted that all three European-type helicopters – two of which had been delivered to the body earlier this year – were equipped with firefighting and mountain rescue hardware and two engines, increasing the safety of flight.
It also added the H145 helicopter was distinguished by its operation and manoeuvre at higher altitudes, and considering the mountainous terrain of the country, the aircraft was “fully” compatible with its needs.
The delivery of the aircraft came from a purchase deal signed with the French company Airbus Helicopters in December 2022, with the Ministry noting the flight crew of the Border Police had undergone theoretical and practical training at an Airbus Helicopters training academy in Germany.
