As the state of New South Wales in Australia finally gets a small break in what has already been speculated to be the worst fire season for the state on record, the states largest water bomber, the Boeing 737 Coulson Fireliner 'Marie Bashir' has been sent to Western Australia to assist firefighters struggling to contain the Two Rocks fire that is currently burning 45 miles west of the Western Australian capital of Perth.
The two rocks fire has now been burning for almost a week, with 400 firefighters attacking the flames from the ground as the fire front has now burned nearly 30,000 acres of land, also threatening the coastal towns of Guilderton, Seabird, and Woodridge, triggering emergency warnings for residents in the area.
Firefighters are also battling a second blaze approximately 100 miles southwest of Perth.
Over 2000 firefighters in New South Wales, despite the cooler conditions, continue to fight bushfires that now burn around the state, burning more than 54 million acres throughout the state.
Unfortunately for the hard-hit state, the Rural Fire Service has warned that some of the hottest temperatures are still to come, with some weather forecasters stating that the hottest day in the history of records may be achieved even before Christmas as firefighters in New South Wales work around the clock to create backburns that will assist in removing some of the fuel many fires have been feeding off.
