CHICO, Calif. - You may have seen air tankers flying out of the Chico airport. That's because aerial firefighters train from the Chico hangar to prepare for wildfires.
Now is the time for crews are practice their skills to be able to fly aircraft to and from the hangar here in Chico.
Pilots fly over a terrain similar to where fires usually break out.
The training is all about air attack, using tankers to drop retardant ahead of fire and scoopers to drop water directly on the fire.
